Inspiring state-of-the-union message from RIVER OF LIFE's Founder/President
Valued Supporters,
Thank You again for your continued prayers, support and financial resources. You are difference-makers and lives are changed through your care, service and philanthropic support.
We must pay attention to the North Korean people for two main reasons:
First, because of human rights issues. True human rights are inherent characteristics given by God when He created humans in His image. For the past 70 years, North Korean residents have been living completely impoverished lives economically and mentally due to the idolatry and false propaganda of the Kim family. There are no smiles on the faces of North Koreans; they are malnourished and emaciated with protruding bones, and adolescents and adults are 10-20 cm shorter than their Western counterparts due to malnutrition. They must constantly monitor each other to survive. They have no freedom of press, no freedom of speech, no freedom of travel, and are sent to prison for even the slightest contact with the outside world. North Korea as a whole is a prison that ruthlessly violates human rights.
RIVER OF LIFE is diligently working to give vision to the 34,000 North Korean defectors in South Korea and provide living expenses to support the survival of family, parents, children, and friends left behind in North Korea, while also sharing the gospel of eternal life in Jesus Christ. There is no other country on Earth as evil as North Korea, which sends 12-13 year old children to prison (12-year sentence) just for watching South Korean dramas. The only way to save them is through humanitarian efforts coupled with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Second, because of God’s command. Matthew 25:35-46 shows that Jesus considered acts of feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, and caring for prisoners as good deeds done unto Himself. The souls of 23 million North Korean residents have been stolen by the Kim family. Even as 3 million people die in masses from starvation, the Kim family and high-ranking officials in Pyongyang live in splendor.
The people are so oppressed that only bones remain.
Currently, North Korea is under severe economic pressure due to Western sanctions. This is causing them to act out more and oppress their people further. At this time, we have an opportunity for the gospel to enter. I believe God’s time will come to that land when we help the families of North Korean defectors and smuggle in the gospel amidst these difficulties that have come again since the Arduous March. Now is the best opportunity. We must help while the door of opportunity is open. The darkness is deepest just before dawn breaks. I hope Paul’s Macedonian vision calling us to come help them becomes our own, and that we can see and hear the cries of 23 million North Korean residents.
With grateful appreciation,
“Paul” [Founder of River of Life Project]
